Also known as Abalone Shell or Nacre, the name “mother of pearl” comes from the Latin term ‘mater perlarun’. In China it is said to attract good fortune and happiness, and is considered a good luck amulet often gifted to loved ones to wish them good luck and prosperity in life.

Mother of Pearl has been highly prized for thousands of years and has been found in tombs of ancient Sumerian royalty (Mesopotamia) circa 2500 BC. This material was so prized that many seaside cultures became incredibly wealthy through harvesting it during ancient times. Often used as adornment in jewellery, but also for decorating furniture, art, and musical instruments.
Often regarded as a gem nugget linking to the gentle healing power of the sea, Mother of Pearl is said to help alleviate stress bringing a soothing, calming and harmonious energy to the emotions.
Shells are related significantly to the ocean, because they have been part of it for many years. The ocean brings feelings of well-being and relaxation, it arouses all of our senses. This beautiful bracelet has been handcrafted by me with handpicked Mother of Pearl beads interspaced with Sterling Silver bead accents for a classic finish. It's strung onto the very best quality jewellers grade stretch elastic, then finished with my "Paula-Rose" (SOLID sterling silver) charm, and infused with a beautiful healing REIKI energy by me.
